SETI@home
 | The granddaddy of distributed computing (and still one of the most popular) - I discovered back in 2000 while searching for screensavers. Carl Sagan was a force behind this study. "SETI@home is a scientific experiment in the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI)." | You can participate by running a free program that downloads and analyzes radio telescope data.

Cosmology@Home [Alpha]
 | "The goal of Cosmology@Home is to search for the model that best describes our Universe and to find the range of models that agree with the available astronomical and particle physics data. In order to achieve this goal, participants in Cosmology@Home will compute the observable predictions of millions of theoretical models with different parameter combinations." |

MilkyWay@home [Alpha]
 | "Galaxies are ever evolving systems that can provide insight into how the universe came to be what it is now.
In 1994 Rodrigo Ibata discovered that the Milkyway was currently merging with another galaxy: the Sagittarius (Sgr) Dwarf Ellipsoidal Galaxy. Due to its relative small size compared to the Milkyway, the Sgr dwarf is being tidally disrupted - being ripped apart and drawn out into long tidal streams. This tidal debris gives us a unique insight into our Galaxy." |

Rosetta@home
 | "Rosetta@home needs your help (by running the program on your computer while you don't need it) to determine the 3-dimensional shapes of proteins in research that may ultimately lead to finding cures for some major human diseases (such as HIV, Malaria, Cancer, and Alzheimer's)." |
