How often does this happen? I disappear for weeks at a time, and then resurface to post two days in a row. Don't thank me, thank my kids who woke up insanely early on a Satureday morning, ensuring that I would be sitting bleary-eyed at my computer by 8:00 a.m.

Anyway, I left off yesterday telling you about our plumbing issues. At the same time that this was going on, I was battling a very sore throat. For three weeks I felt like I was swallowing razor wire. Eventually I caved and went to the doctor. He gave me antibiotics, and by the very next day whatever I had was starting to clear up. Just goes to show that sometimes, drugs are the answer.

Then we started having issues with our Internet. For no discernable reason, our DSL line started dropping. Our phone was also crackling, so we though the issue was the phone line. The telephone man came and checked, and said the line was working fine. Over the last two weeks we have had various conversations with the Internet people. A technician was supposed to come out four days ago and didn't show up. We have made it very clear to the billing department that we do not intend to pay for a service we have not received. They promised to credit us the full amount of the bill for the last month. The issues continue, and we have started videotaping our computer monitors and the ugly red light on the modem every time the connection drops. We will end up with something that will posted on Youtube if the problem does not get resolved.

All of these happenings have been affecting my running schedule. I have kept it going for the most part, but I have skipped a lot of runs. Either I have been too sick, or I have been waiting for the invisible Internet technician, or I have been unwilling to run eight miles without the ability to take a shower afterwards as a result of non-functional plumbing.

Still, I am not doing too badly, and I am still on track to run the half-marathon at the end of September. Tomorrow I am going to run nine miles and I am looking forward to it.

First, though, I am in desperate need for a cup of coffee. Have a great day, everyone.
