Hi Vanessa and Monte.
I had a similar problem 1. I found a grey hose joiner in Bunnings made by Nylex for 19mm to 25 mm hoses. I also bought a 25mm plastic hose joiner. The brey piece fits over the hose from the van and the black hose joiner is attached to my sullage hose and sticks in the grey joiner. |

Another solution that we used is to fit a non-return valve in the line.

| I have a 630 and if it is not dead level the water tends to come out from the kitchen sink overflows from the shower connection, I have tried to purchase new pipes to change the system but cannot find where to buy them bunnings are not like the original pipes, any body know where to get them from. |

The reason for the poor draining in Geist vans are the pipes as has been said. The reason the pipes are small is that in Europe they empty their waste water into a container, like the toilet canister and then empty it into a sullage area like we do a dump point with out toilet waste. If you simply put a bucket under the outflow with a hose connected in at the base of the bucket, you get very little if any issues. Of course we just like to pipe it away in Oz but changing the sullage outflow in factory was something I was working on when working with Geist. Care-a-van's fix is a great one I was keen to take to Germany.
Re-piping the van is the ultimate but the bucket with a hose is a pretty good cheap alternative.
Also consider a Y piece near the outflow point if you haven't already got this fitted. This was the cheap fix the importer used over the last couple of years 07/08.

| I had a similar problem and had a good look under van and established the pvc pipes are not glued the down pipes actually just sit in the main pipe which connects to the hose. I believe the reason for this is to avoid ripping all the downpipes out if you get hooked up to something. If you drain the sink out slowly rather than let all water out in one hit you will avoid most of the spillage. |

|
One of the issues I had with my XK535 was that the sink drains were very slow and the shower drain leaked.
I noted that the shower drain was a very small pipe and just sat inside a slightly larger drain pipe (but still small) that joined with the main drain.
This probably acted as a sort of vent.
The small size of the main drain pipes meant that the water often backed up and spilled out of this shower drain 'vent'. (not a good look for a Geist)
I tried to seal that vent/join but this meant the backup then filled the shower (not nice).
So the answer was to get 'Care-a-van' in Perth to resize the whole drain system including the bathroom vanity and kitchen sink and shower. The sink plugs were kept the same size but the pipes were enlarged.
This they did and now the drains empty faster, there is no backup and there are no vents or open joins.
There was an issue with the XK535 at the shower plug which was enlarged as part of the modification in that there is a cross member adjacent as you go through the floor which meant an enlarged hole and a modified connection at that point. But it worked.
The main drain outlet is a standard PVC ribbed connector and the black sullage hose I have slides on and grips easily. |

These fittings are the black PVC type available at Bunnings, hope this is a help to you. Safe travelling Max |

|
Hi all friendly Geist fans
Hubby and I have two questions:
1. Our sullage hose doesn't fit snugly on the drainage outlet under the caravan and therefore all the water just leaks out. Is there a special hose we need to buy or is there a piece required to fit it better?
2. A small pipe under the shower appears to leak a little bit. Please can anyone tell us if they have had this issue and how they rectified it?
Much obliged to all who may read this and respond!
Cheers
