Geistrunner,
I have 4 speakers in the LV660, but they are only connected to the Radio/DVD/CD player ( A Majestic). However, the TV only plays through its inbuilt speakers.
I have 2 questions:
Is it possible to change the system so that the TV (A Majestic) plays through the stereo speakers. This would give much better sound and provide it in the area of the van that one is using. It would seem that this should be a simple fix.
Is it possible to fit a fader system so that the front (lounge area) or rear (bedroom area) speakers can be tuned out. I would have thought that this may have been standard, but can't find any thing in the amplifier area that achieves this.
Final question. In the list of agents you have given you have delineated a couple for service and warranty. Are these the only ones that can undertake servicing, or can all sites do that. Important for us bush dwellers and travellers, especially as my second service is now almost due.
Regards
Geoff |

Geistrider,
wwhat radio unit do you have? Any car type radio will have a fader for front to rear that should be useable in a caravan. I am trying to find one that has an auxilliary input to connect the TV to so that it can behave like a normal home system and switch between radio, CD, DVD and TV / st top box, at least for the sound.
Maybe Geistrunner has some input on this to help us all?? |

Geistrider,
I just bought an Axis DVD CD Player/Receiver which has front to rear fader, auxilliary input on the rear for TV sound and much more for about $240.00. Actually I got the one without the DVD for $120.00 as I already have DVD in the TV. You could easily swap this for the one you have and get what you are after.
It is from the Camec caravan parts shop but you can probably get it on ebay or whatever else you want to do. |

BobD,
Thanks for the info.
My radio/DVD/CD is the one built into the van. It is a Majestic and is a combo with the flat screen TV.
I really would like to perservere with the one that was fitted.
There must be a simple way to achieve what I want. I am probably being a little (perhaps a lot) lazy, in that I asked the question of Geistrunner before I have pulled the unit out and had a close look, but then it is still under warranty.
Thanks again for advising of your fix. It may be the only way to go!
Regards

Bob, Majestic do have a fix for the fader problem, talking to Tony at the Brisbane show he said there is a switch you can get from Jaycar (big electronics store) that will do the job. It is crazy that the thing doesn't come with it already. The issue with the TV speakers is a little more tricky, the dvds play fine through the speakers, right? They should anyway, the only way to fix it is to use the new FM transmitter 20" TV's we are NOW selling in the vans. I have the same problem so I know what you mean. FM transmitter ones are normally $1500 but I can get them at the show prices for you at $1255. Lot of money I know but thats the only way I know of getting the TV running back through other than rewiring by an auto guy.
I'm not that cluey with car audio stuff I was always the one with the inherited cassette radios from my brother when they went out of date. I might be a power user with video and still imagery and high end audio recording stuff but have bypassed the car audio stuff I am afraid. Maybe someone else out there could have a go at a cheaper fix?
You wont break the warranty by pulling it out to have a look, just don't break open the unit.
Majestic-Global is on the Gold Coast if you want to contact them. They are very well known in the marine world for high end gear. They fit the Riviera boats etc...
Catch you on the track

Peter,
It is Geistrider that has the problem with the fader. I just suggested a possible solution which I will expand on a bit below.
My solution is simple, just takes a bit of work. I have been fitting a car stereo with front rear fader and RCA inputs on the back for an auxilliary, which will be for the audio output from my 12V TV with built in digital and analogue tuners as well as built in DVD. Camec sell the one I got and also a more expensive receiver model with DVD and USB built in. It is a fairly cheap brand but I don't anticipate that it will behave siginificantly differently from the Majestic gear in terms of reliability and sound quality.
I have just finished fitting the stereo using a d**k Smith plastic electronics case which I have screwed to the inside top of one of the cupboards. I also bought a small board with 2 RCA sockets (red and white stereo pair) from d**k Smith that I will screw to the bench adjacent to the TV plugs and wire back to the stereo. All I need then is some speakers and a standard RCA audio cable from the Audio out on the TV to the sockets on the bench.
Once it is all connected up I will have a really good system for TV, CD's, radio and DVD's. I might even put a small subwoofer under the front seats. My main problem now is what speakers to get and exactly where to put them. I may put them in the corners like Geist now do, although there is not much room, or I might do something else. I haven't yet decided.
Thanks for the idea Peter. It was in the back of my mind to do it and once I saw the exact gear I needed at Camec I started turning the idea into reallity. |

sorry for the confusion Bob, I am doing the Adelaide mini show at the moment and was a bit frazled at 11:00 last night. Sounds like your "pimping" your ride as they say. With subwoofers in etc... we'll here you coming a mile off. Not much different in quality of electronics these days I reckon. No matter what the brand.

Geistrunner,
Thanks for the info, even if you did send it to BobD. I understand how things can become a bit fuzzy when you are flat.
And BobD thanks for your help.
I will contact Majestic to see if there is an easy fix, before I pull it apart.
How are things coming along for our first adventure!
Regards
