Ok, I'll start the ball rolling, I'm a young 38 year old that works his butt off for a company that believes in a product called Geist that they developed through a German manufacturer called LMC. I also believe in the product as the future for caravaning in Australia. I love this country and have traveled most of it (25,000kms) in a Geist XK660 in just 4 months, I have traveled earlier in an old Franklin that I rebuilt over 3 months but now I have decided to dedicate my working life to Geist, in between I metal detect and fish in some of the best places in Australia. Before you say I have the best job in the world, I have to say I have had around 8 days off in two months, and I travel long haul at 1000 kms plus a day a lot of the time to meet shows etc... so it ain't all bells and whistles. I am an honest bloke who has a gorgeous wife who supports me very well and is very talented as a graphic designer (see www.treasurestudios.com.au). I believe in customer service and want to hear the bad points as much as the good points.
I know not every Geist is perfect and either is any other van, if I don't know, I can't fix! I have sold other Australian made vans, the best of these in my opinion are Nova and Island Star. So if you want an honest view on an Australian built van then buy one of them. If you want a new technology advanced built van then buy a Geist, it's that simple! Adria is not a German built van, it's a Slovenia built one, Swift is an English built van, they have issues! Geist have 6 years of experience on Australian roads, we know what the others will go through with compliance and road conditions issues. I am devoted to our 550 owners on the road, this forum is dedicated to them and new owners to come. |

Hi Geistrunner,
We've just bought a 2nd hand geist 660 2005 model (we loved the look of the vans on the internet but couldn't afford a newy, I think we're very lucky to have found the van for us) took it on a quick trip to Brunswick Heads - loved the van but as it got down to 3 degrees we put the gas heater on - not sure if its working properly, seemed to heat up the walls and benches more than the van - do u think it needs a service - we're at the Tweed and have never had a van before so any advice would be more than welcome.
Cheers Marguerite
ps where would be our closest service centre |

Hi pcprint, great to have you on board, don't forget to go to the geistdirect website to enrol in the club if you haven't already. I would definitely have it serviced as soon as possible. If you can send me an email at peter@geistdirect.com.au with your Chassis no. it will aid me to update your water ingress warranty details and maybe see the history of the servicing to a point. Go to the list of service agents and dealers on this forum to see the closest agent to you.
Catch you on the track
