*** Inquiring On The Tonasket BMX ***

Tonasket, Washington ( Gene`s BMX News ) -- 08/01/2009

The Town of Tonasket got a development grant in 2005
from the Washington Wildlife and Recreation Coalition
for $129,000 - Applicant Match to Recipient Match.

It was to build a 10,000 square foot skate park and an adjacent
50,000 square foot dirt BMX track. This project will be part of
Chief Tonasket Park, which along with the skate park and the
BMX track will eventually have soccer and baseball fields.

The proposed project is to be built on a site that was once a series
of holding ponds for the town sewage treatment facility that are no
longer used and have been drained and is being used as a park site.

The proposed skate park is designed to provide both street and
freeform skate boarding, for all levels of expertise, beginners,
intermediate and expert. Both inline and skate boarding facilities
will be provided.

The features will consist of a series of concrete bowls, 1/4 and
1/2 pipes, ledges, spines, jump boxes. ramps, banks, steps, rails
of various heights, vert walls, grinding rails, square and round coping.

The BMX track will have approximately 1000 feet of straight
runs and mounds designed in a series of curves and banks.

Most of the work will be accomplished by volunteers under
the guidance of the ABA or the American Bicycle Association.

The project includes fencing, a starting gate, a small 10x15- 2
story building for storage, starting events, and ticket sales, a
water system, a paved staging area, an area for support vehicles,
and bleachers for spectators.

So where is this today? The skate park is complete and is up
and running as there are some photos of it a float on the web.
Photos can be found at: http://www.tonasketskatepark.org

But this leaves the next big question; Where is the BMX Track?
It is way cool that the skate park is complete but what about
that BMX Track as we have seen a few e-mails inquiring of just
where is that BMX Track in Tonasket and where is it at?

We have not seen or herd to much from the Tonasket B3
Skate and Bike Park Group that was pushing this Project.
So who knows what is going on. Will there be a BMX track?
Only time will tell we guess.....

Here is everything we know of the to be Tonasket BMX Track:
