*** Spokane Youth Board Vacancies ***

Spokane, Washington -- 09/22/2009
Youth Vacancies On City And County Boards And Commissions.

The Spokane Regional Youth Department and Chase
Youth Commission are recruiting members for five open
youth positions on various City of Spokane and Spokane
County Boards and Commissions.

The Spokane region is one of the very few localities in the nation
to provide numerous opportunities for youth to serve on decision-
making boards. The addition of youth on boards and commissions
is essential in creating a modern, vibrant, and innovative community.

These opportunities also provide youth perspective on a wide range
of issues and give youth a voice in decisions that shape our entire
community. Current youth openings include:

* Bicycle Advisory Board (City of Spokane)
Provide advice and direction on matters relating to bicycling.

* Developmental Disabilities Advisory Board (Spokane County)
Recommend and plan support systems for persons with
developmental disabilities.

* Human Services Advisory Board (City of Spokane)
Determine the human service needs and to recommend
the appropriate funding.

* Spokane Regional Cable Advisory Board (City of Spokane)
Advise local elected officials regarding cable and cable-related
issues and concerns.

* Youth Advisor to the Spokane City Council (City of Spokane)
Advise and assist the members of the Spokane City Council.
Possible tasks include research, community meetings, and
reports to Council.

For City boards and commissions, applicants must reside within
the City of Spokane. Applicants must be a junior or senior in high
school and at least 16 years of age at the time of appointment.

Those interested in applying may obtain further information by
contacting the Spokane Regional Youth Department, 625-6440
or by visiting the Chase Youth Commission website at:
www.chaseyouth.org

Applications (attached) are due by 5p.m. on Friday, Oct. 15.
