*** BMX Kids Having A Wheelie Good Time ***
Northern Territory, Australia -- 09/30/2008
Photo - Riding coach Glenn Codega gives Kai Kavanagh
a few tips during a two-day course at Jingili.
They are nicknamed helmets on wheels but
these BMX bandits are a no nonsense bunch.
Yesterday, the Territory's youngest up and coming
"sprocket racers" were taken through their paces
by two of Australia's finest.
Former world champion, four-time Australian No. 1 and six-time
Queensland elite title-holder Glenn Codega and fellow Queenslander
and national champion Jamie Gray took their NT compatriots through
the finer points of the sport on the first day of their Top End coaching
course at the Jingili BMX centre.
On the agenda - balance, gate starts and cornering.
Some - most noticeably the Red Centre
contingent - took to the gate starts with style.
The cornering proved a little harder, with more than the
odd tiny rider getting caught up in each other wheels.
All female riders contesting this weekend's NT championships
were coached last night before the 8-10-year-old and 11 to
seniors took centre stage under lights. _________________ BMX News Reporter, An Array Of People
