I like the idea of leaving the right side of the climb alone and filling the left side with dirt.

I also agree with the Satan's Needle pass. It makes it a lot more challenging with the root exposed.

After the drop into Sneaky Snake, the squeeze between the two tress followed by a 320 degree switch back. Ever hear the story of Tinker rolling backward from Satan's Needle into the water?

Satan's Needle can also be found at the bottom of various bottles of liquor.

There was an explanation on covering roots a few weeks ago. On occassion they need to be covered to protect the integrity of the trail. Sure it makes it easier for a while, but then the trail goes back to the original condition. Just letting errosion continue can cause excessive damage.

Just imagine not maintaining Satan's Needle to the point only a few riders can do it due to how much of the root is exposed. Then we get a long hard rain. The soil is soft and the next thing you know erosion undermines the tree roots and no more Satan's Needle.

WOW...this is the most action this board has had in a while. Don't stop bickering now ya buncha pansies, it was just gettin good...just kidding. I rode Carter for the first time in a long time last Saturday and I was surprised how well the trail held up after all the rain. I started on Cruddy Buddy because the weather was threatening and only noticed any significant amount of mud on new beginning of Black Forest, return on Green Mile, and the part before and around Beast and Moe. I think the weather and the lack of riding because of it has alot of us grumpy. Like kent said, anything other than trimming will be in vain due to the showers every freakin day. I think that's why most of us haven't been doing much out there...not because of the heat, but the heat doesn't help. I'll be glad to help just as soon as this rain chills out a little. Oh yeah, there was a car burnt to a crisp being hauled out of there Saturday AM. I'm unsure of the circumstances surrounding the mishap but it doesn't surprise me after all the crazy sh!!t I've seen out there.
