mr. shortcut has been everywhere lately.
every time we block another shortcut on the blue and red trails, someone removes the blockage and pusses out the trail.
snivelers are everywhere.

Aw, man... not you too? Why does everybody act like the bypasses are a personal insult to them? So what if we have a bypass around a harder section? As long as it doesn't negatively impact the original line, what is the big deal? If it means one more person gets to enjoy the trails, then its worth it. One more person enjoying the trails is one more person added to our collective voice. Strength in numbers.

because, Jeff, that is what the blue and red trails are for.
the only short cut to a blue or red trail is to not do it.
simplifying the designated higher skilled trails is just stupid.
if you can't ride the blues or reds, stay on the yellow.
I, as a trail captain, will continue to block and make unusable any shortcut I feel detracts from the intent of the trail.
if you snivelers want to make every trail easy, lets request the County pave every trail and add handrails and toeboards so its all easy and all-inclusive.

Hell yeah meekers, the problem with the bypasses on the blues and reds are that they are becoming the main line. Take baby beast and the small section around the tree right before baby beast. If you cant ride a section walk it until you can. When I started riding at carter a year ago i walked almost everything. I though to myself how can anyone ride this. Now a year later i ride everything. IF YOU ALWAYS RIDE THE BYPASS YOU WILL NEVER GAIN THE SKILL TO RIDE THE HARD PARTS. _________________ Steve S is SLOWER than me! |

| I believe certain blue trails require bypasses so to make for a good riding experience for all. Cruddy Buddy has sections to difficult for beginners and is the only way to some of our other trails. Bypasses on these sections are essential if we want to be a club that includes all levels. I have seen other sports diminished or gone on to be at such a high levels almost all are excluded. I motocrossed in the 70's and watched it become a sport only for top level guys with money.Handball was my main game for 25 years and many of the sports elitists would just beat the crap out of beginners because their egos demanded it so all the would be players went to other sports and handball has pretty much died out. How would it be if our club slowly faded away, no newbies came out-it would suck. |

| Bypasses on an section that's considered easy is no prob. It's when people go on the red sections and because they think it's hard they cut roots or make corners straight. You can put plenty of miles in at Carter and never get on the red trails. Leave the stuff that is supposed to be hard and challenging alone. If something on the main trail needs a bypass for new riders then make it so. As a new rider you can run the main trail and as you progress add a finger here and there till you can clean the entire trail. Better riders need the hard stuff to keep it interesting just much as new riders need bypasses. |

I think the challenge may be Carter Road unlike Alafia is a loop therefore that we have some blue trails (cruddy buddy) that are the only options for continuing the ride. I fully support leaving blue as blue and red as red but I also want to encourage riders of all levels to come out and enjoy a full loop. Herein lies the catch-22.
Those areas that depart the main trail and come back should not be made to be easier. |
