Murray McDonough is still in very critical condition in the TICU at LRMC. He is allowed no visitors except for family. I visited the family waiting room this morning and met his mother, brother and three sisters. Sadly, they seemed resigned to the fact that things were not going to improve. I told them that everyone from the Ridgeriders wished them well as they proceed through this ordeal. I told them that a lot of the message board chatter involved discussion about the caution we all should if we ever ride alone on the more difficult sections of the park. They seemed relieved to know that something good would come out of all of this.
I traded email addresses with his sister Molly. They expressed an interest in doing something nice as a memorial to Murray. Let's just wait and see how that plays out.
Keep offering prayers for their situation. It's pretty tough. |

I knew it was bad as I watched them do cpr. Very sad. The up side if there is one is that someone else will benefit from his misfortune.
Everyone should be a donor.
It can also be said he was doing something he enjoyed. |

I just got a call from Molly McDonough, one of Murray's sisters; I met her and other family members at LRMC on Wednesday morning. Murray's brain activity is all but gone, so some time today he will be taken to the OR and they will harvest what organs are suitable, which out of a cloud of despair is a wonderful thing for him to do.
I told Molly about the Murray Memorial Ride and she indicated that some or all of the family would like to be there. This is a good thing - let's see how many riders we can have show up! Whaddya say?
I'm going to take the liberty of posting Molly's email address - Molly.McDonough@flaglerdev.com I'm sure they would love to her from us.
I'm getting ready to leave for a week on a job in Canada, but will be back on the 27th. See you all on the 28th. Tough day for the McDonough's. |

Hard to know what to say about this- Feel deep regret for his families loss. The organ donation is a wonderful thing- He will help save another persons life. I believe that is the most noble gesture one can perform.
It also has affected me deeply and has caused reflections back to so many times of falling on motorcycles/ mountainbikes/etc. How many times has each of us dropped into Sneaky Snake? We take it for granite.- I don't think I'll take it for granite anymore. |
